CFTC report as of 15 Sep 2026

Know where the money is positioned before Tuesday.

Every Friday the CFTC reveals what the big speculators and the hedgers hold in currency futures. COT Intelligence ranks every currency, scores all 28 majors pairs, and hands you a bias for the week, with the reasoning written out.

How it works

One report in. One clear bias out.

The CFTC's Commitments of Traders report is dense. The app does three things with it, in this order.

  1. Rank

Every currency gets one score from −3 to +3: where the speculators' money is flowing, where it sits in its six-month range, and how committed last week's move was.

  2. Pair

The strongest currency against the weakest. A gap of 3 or more across the 28 majors pairs becomes a long or short bias. Anything less is no trade.

  3. Explain

Every bias comes with its reasoning written out in plain English, and every number opens its formula. Nothing to take on trust.

The week

Built around the week you actually trade.

New report was due Fri 25 Sep, 22:30 EAT.

  1. Tue

    Positions are counted

The report is taken as of Tuesday's close. Holiday weeks use Monday.

  2. Fri 22:30 EAT

    Release → automatic update

About 15 minutes after release the year's file is re-downloaded, every row validated and every metric recomputed.

  3. Weekend

    Pick one or two pairs

Read the strength board, check the regimes, take the widest gaps. Never flip on one week.

  4. Tue – Wed

    Execute on your charts

Wait for a sweep of the prior high or low and a structure shift. No setup by Wednesday's close, no trade.

Rulebook

Seven rules, in order. Price has the final say.

Positioning gives you the bias and the context. It is never an entry on its own.

The two-week rule

Never flip bias on a single week of data.

  1. Regime

Use the COT index to decide between trend mode and extreme mode.

  2. Flow

Read the 3–4 week direction of the net.

  3. Conviction

Check last week's change type and whether open interest confirms it.

  4. Commercials

At extremes, check whether commercials are at the opposite extreme (reversal watch).

  5. Score and pair

Trade only when the gap is 3 or more.

  6. Price has the final say

Positioning gives the bias; price confirms it.

  7. Execute Tuesday or Wednesday

Wait for a sweep of the prior week's, Monday's or Tuesday's high or low, then a structure shift on H1 or H4. Enter on the retrace, with the stop beyond the sweep. Target the opposite liquidity. If nothing sets up by Wednesday's close, take no trade.
